“The Book of Mormon” added to Denver Center’s 2013 Season

“The Book of Mormon” is set to return to Denver October 2013, said the co-creators of the Tony Award-amassing musical about two young Mormons sent on a mission to Africa. and — both Colorado natives — were standing in the lobby of the Ellie Calukins Opera House as music wafted from a rehearsal of the show.Next week, Denver launches the musical’s first national tour.

In January, tickets sold out in record time for the show’s brief engagement at the (Aug. 14-Sept. 2).

Thursday, Attractions announced an extended 2013-2014 season. The 17-production slate includes “War Horse,” “Once” and the kickoff of the first national tour of 2012′s Tony-winning play, “Peter and the Starcatcher” The surprise addition of “The Book of Mormon,’ which Parker and Stone co-wrote with (“Avenue Q”), underscores how strong Denver’s reputation as a robust theater town has become.

Tickets for “The Book of Mormon” at the will go on sale after the first of the year. According to , subscribers to the 2013-2014 season will receive priority access to tickets prior to the public on sale.
